I sat down trying to figure out what I was going to write about this week…
and instead, I found myself thinking about last week.
Not in a highlight-reel kind of way.
More like… a “let’s be real for a minute” kind of reflection.
Because when I asked myself,
What was I supposed to do last week that I didn’t do?
the answer came quick.
I didn’t write the two chapters of my new book.
I didn’t show up the way I said I would in my Skool community.
And if I’m being honest… I probably didn’t show up on social media the way I know I should have either.
Now, before you think I was just sitting around doing nothing—let me stop you right there.
I spent time in my in-person groups.
I volunteered at the soup kitchen three times.
I helped my mom run errands.
I went to church.
I mowed two lawns and weed-eated them.
I even changed the oil in my car.
So no… I wasn’t lazy.
But I also wasn’t moving forward in the areas that matter most to where I say I’m going.
And that’s a different kind of truth.
Busy Isn’t the Same as Aligned
Here’s what hit me while I was sitting there thinking about all of this…
You can be busy all day long and still avoid the very thing you’re called to do.
Let that sink in for a second.
Because sometimes we don’t procrastinate by doing nothing—
we procrastinate by doing everything else.
Everything that feels productive.
Everything that feels necessary.
Everything that no one questions.
But deep down… we know.
The Real Reason I Was Avoiding It
In my book Minding What Matters: A Journey Through Loss, Growth, and Transformation, I talk about The Courage to Grow.
And if I’m going to live what I wrote…
then I’ve got to tell you the truth behind why those chapters didn’t get written.
It’s not because I didn’t have time.
It’s because there’s still a part of me that wonders…
👉 What if people don’t take me seriously?
👉 What if I’m not good enough?
👉 What if I actually succeed… and can’t keep it going?
And if we’re really going to peel this thing back…
There are moments I question whether I even deserve the success I say I want.
“But You’re a Life Coach…”
Now here’s the part that almost made me laugh…
Because the thought crossed my mind:
“Wait… you’re a life coach. You’re not supposed to feel like this.”
Let me tell you something real clear…
That’s a lie.
Coaches are human.
Leaders are human.
People who help others still have their own work to do.
And if someone is out here acting like they’ve got it all together 100% of the time…
they’re either hiding something… or they’ve stopped growing.
And I don’t know about you—but I’m committed to growing.
The Pivot Happens Here
This is the moment where most people either:
❌ Keep avoiding what matters
or
✅ Get honest enough to shift
And this week?
I’m choosing the shift.
Not perfectly.
Not all at once.
But intentionally.
Because the truth is…
You don’t need a brand-new plan.
You need the courage to do what you already know matters.
Let Me Ask You Something…
Where are you staying busy…
instead of being aligned?
What are you avoiding—not because you don’t have time—
but because it requires you to show up in a bigger way?
Final Thought
Friend… let me say this the way I would if we were sitting across from each other:
You don’t have to have it all together to move forward.
You just have to be honest enough to take the next step.
Even if your voice shakes.
Even if your confidence isn’t all the way there yet.
You’re not behind.
You’re being invited to rise.
Call to Action
If this hit home for you, I want you to take one small step today:
👉 Do the one thing you’ve been avoiding.
Not everything.
Just one.
And if you need a place to keep growing, reflecting, and getting real about your next move…
come connect with me
Because around here?
We don’t pretend we’ve got it all together.
✨ We rise anyway.
