How to Recognize It, Resist It, and Reclaim Your Reality

There’s something nobody really tells you about healing…

When you start growing,
when you start setting boundaries,
when you start choosing peace over chaos…

👉 The noise doesn’t always go away. Sometimes—it gets louder.

And one of the loudest forms of that noise?

Gaslighting.

Let’s Call It What It Is

Gaslighting isn’t just someone disagreeing with you.

It’s when someone tries to make you question your reality.

It sounds like:

And if you’re not careful, you’ll start to wonder:

👉 “Wait… am I the problem?”

Here’s the Truth You Need to Hear

Gaslighting only works if it makes you doubt what you know to be true.

And let me say this plain and simple:

Just because someone denies your experience doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

You were there.
You felt it.
You lived it.

Why It Hits Harder When You’re Healing

When you’re in a healing season, you’re already:

So when someone twists your words or rewrites history…

👉 It can hit deeper than it used to.

Because now you’re not just surviving—you’re trying to grow.

And growth makes you aware of things you used to ignore.

I’m Going to Say Something That Might Sting a Little

Sometimes, the moment you stop tolerating what hurt you…

👉 is the moment someone starts trying to convince you it wasn’t that bad.

Not because you’re wrong.

But because your growth is inconvenient for their comfort.

How to Recognize Gaslighting in Real Time

Pay attention to how you feel after conversations.

If you walk away feeling:

👉 That’s not peace. That’s manipulation.

What You Do Instead

You don’t argue your reality.

You don’t over-explain your truth.

You don’t shrink yourself to make someone else comfortable.

You do this instead:

✔️ Pause before responding
✔️ Stand on what you know to be true
✔️ Set boundaries without guilt
✔️ Walk away if necessary

Because hear me:

You don’t have to convince anyone of what you experienced.

Faith Check (Because We Don’t Do This Alone)

God is not the author of confusion.

So if something keeps leaving you confused, twisted, and doubting yourself…

👉 That’s not where your peace lives.

1 Corinthians 14:33 reminds us:
“God is not the author of confusion but of peace.”

Let’s Bring It Home

Healing will require you to:

And yes… that might mean seeing people differently than you used to.

That’s not you being “too much.”

👉 That’s you finally being awake.

Your Phoenix Moment 🔥

You are not crazy.
You are not too sensitive.
You are not imagining things.

✨ You are becoming someone who refuses to be manipulated.

And that?

That’s power.

Reflection Question

💬 Where in your life have you been questioning yourself… when deep down, you already knew the truth?

Call to Action

If this hit home for you, don’t just scroll past it.

Pause. Reflect. Be honest.

And if you’re in a season where you’re learning to trust yourself again…

👉 You don’t have to do that alone.
