Christmas may be filled with music, lights, family, food, and enough sugar to knock a person into a two-day nap—but purpose doesn’t take a holiday.
Not because we’re supposed to “work harder,” and not because rest is somehow wrong.
Purpose doesn’t take a holiday because it’s not something we do… it’s who we are.
The Myth of the Pause Button
Around this time of year, people start saying things like:
“I’ll start fresh once Christmas is over.”
“I’ll get serious in January.”
“I’ll worry about purpose after the chaos settles down.”
But here’s the truth: life never fully settles down.
If we wait for perfect peace and perfect conditions to pursue purpose, we’ll spend our whole lives waiting.
Purpose lives in the middle of real life—kids running through the house, grief trying to steal our oxygen, financial pressure whispering doubt, and Christmas casseroles burning in the oven.
Purpose Happens in Small Daily Choices
Purpose isn’t always dramatic.
Sometimes it’s choosing kindness when you’re tired.
Choosing stillness when anxiety rises.
Choosing forgiveness when bitterness feels easier.
Choosing to breathe and believe—even when life hasn’t given you the answers you prayed for (yet).
Purpose lives in these tiny pivots.
You’re Not Off the Clock
You weren’t assigned purpose like a job schedule.
Purpose isn’t:
9–5, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
It is identity.
It is calling.
It is breath.
Even if you rest all day in pajamas watching Christmas movies—your purpose is still alive inside you, shaping how you think, how you love, how you speak, and how you show up in the world.
When Christmas Hurts
For some, Christmas doesn’t feel magical.
It feels heavy.
Quiet.
Confusing.
Lonely.
Or like a neon sign pointing to who’s missing at the table.
Purpose doesn’t disappear in those moments.
If anything, it becomes clearer:
You are still here on purpose.
Your story matters.
Your breath matters.
Your voice has weight.
You don’t have to pretend to be merry to walk in purpose.
You just have to stay willing to rise—even gently.
Take the Pressure Off
Purpose doesn’t mean hustling through Christmas.
There is purpose in:
-
Rest
-
Laughter
-
Boundaries
-
Joy
-
Time away from your phone
-
Saying “no” without guilt
-
Sitting in silence
-
Talking to God
-
Honoring where you are emotionally
Rest doesn’t remove purpose—rest reveals it.
Look Around… Purpose Is Right Here
This week, purpose may look like:
-
Encouraging one person
-
Giving grace instead of reacting
-
Smiling at a stranger
-
Sitting with your own heart honestly
-
Serving quietly
-
Listening deeply
-
Choosing hope over hopelessness
Purpose is not a big stage.
It’s a daily posture.
Your Phoenix Moment Isn’t Scheduled for January
You don’t have to wait for the New Year to rise.
You don’t have to wait to heal.
You don’t have to wait to begin.
God does not pause your calling because the calendar says Christmas week.
He works right in it.
Right now.
Right here.
With everything you have and everything you don’t.
Phoenix Declaration
I rise with purpose today—right where I am, in the middle of this Christmas week, with peace in my heart and clarity in my spirit. I do not wait for perfect timing or perfect conditions. Purpose is who I am, not something I schedule. I rise—today, tomorrow, and always.
